Companion Picks

Methodology

How Companion Picks compares AI companion apps.

Our pages rank apps by the visitor's first action: companion chat, roleplay, images, voice, video, mobile use, privacy, pricing, or free-to-try access.

Ranking inputs

Each comparison page weights the factors that match the keyword intent.

  • Intent fit: broad companion, roleplay, image, voice, video, pricing, or privacy.
  • Mobile flow: signup, chat readability, media loading, and account controls.
  • Pricing clarity: free start, plan limits, renewal language, and cancellation visibility.
  • Trust checks: policy visibility, support path, country fit, and correction history.
  • Conversion fit: whether the offer can satisfy the page promise without forcing a bad click.

Source rules

Public, current, first-party information gets priority.

  • Official product pages and partner landing pages.
  • Official privacy, terms, billing, cancellation, and support pages.
  • Manual page checks with a visible update month when data can change.
  • Reader or vendor corrections only when supported by public source material.

Author testing process

Companion Picks pages are drafted from structured offer data, then reviewed against the official app pages before publication or refresh. The reviewer checks the same fields a buyer should verify before paying.

  • Start with the query intent and record the likely first action: chat, roleplay, images, voice, video, mobile, pricing, or privacy.
  • Open the official product, pricing, help, terms, and policy pages when available.
  • Record official pricing links, plan-limit caveats, feature links, and last-checked dates.
  • Compare at least one broad companion app against one specialized app when the search could fit both.
  • Refresh pages when a source page changes, a correction request is validated, or a commercial page uses stale pricing language.

Pricing last-checked rule

Pricing components show the latest manual check date, but they do not replace the partner checkout or official help page. If a price, trial, credit allowance, or cancellation term is not visible publicly, the page tells readers to verify the live partner source before paying.

Affiliate policy

Companion Picks may earn from partner links, but ranking logic still has to match the page intent.

  • Affiliate links route through `/go/` and are excluded from the public sitemap.
  • Commercial pages include disclosures and use `nofollow sponsored` where appropriate.
  • External resource assets avoid direct affiliate links unless the platform and context make that appropriate.
  • Corrections cannot buy ranking changes or hidden placements.

Correction process

Use the public data request page when a pricing field, feature note, country availability note, or policy citation is out of date.
